Pleasure

Yesterday I wrote an introduction to the 3 different types of sin. If you did not read it, please do so, it will give you some background on today's short message.

The first type of sin was described in Matthew 4:3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

As man we like to do things that are fun. We sometimes build our lives around it, or we live from the one experience to the next, forgetting to live in between. In Genesis 3:6 it is written: When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

A parallel between Jesus being tempted in the desert and Eve being tempted in the garden can be drawn. The 3 different types of sin were already established in this verse. The first, pleasure, both relate to food (here it is the fruit, in Matthew 4:3 it is bread). Although that is the case, there are plenty of other "fruits" that can be the pleasureful sin. I am sure you can think of a few. Also, a few that might have had an effect on you. I can...

Alas, though all of this is true, there is still hope for us:

John 6:40 in the Message says: This is my Fathers will - that anyone who sees the Son and trusts who He is and what He does and then aligns to Him will enter real life (eternal life).

We should align ourselves to Him and we will have rest, peace, this holidays and forever.
